Condition:
Skin disorders
Skin disorders are often inflammatory in nature or related to altered immune regulation, including autoimmune processes.
In osteopathic practice the focus is not the condition itself, but the person expressing it. Many such conditions may be influenced by heightened sympathetic arousal, which can inhibit normal physiological and immune function.
Therapeutic attention therefore aims to reduce sympathetic dominance and support parasympathetic activity. Assessment may include the cranial and sacral parasympathetic outflow regions, as these influence systemic regulation. When autonomic balance improves, circulation, immune modulation, and tissue repair may function more effectively.
Because skin conditions are individual stress responses, the outcome cannot be predicted until sympathetic tone has reduced. Approaches that encourage parasympathetic engagement—such as responses associated with the dive reflex—may help relax the whole organism and support improved physiological regulation.Cranial Sacral Therapy
